Curriculum Overview

CBA’s four-year curriculum is intentionally designed to build business, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills year by year—so Dragons graduate with confidence, experience, and real-world credentials.

 

9th Grade – Foundations

Course: Principles of Business, Marketing & Finance 

 

What Students Learn:

  • Characteristics & functions of business

  • Economics & private enterprise

  • Global business & government

  • Marketing, finance, and accounting basics

  • Business ethics

  • Personal finance

  • Career exploration

This year establishes the business foundation every future entrepreneur needs.

 

10th Grade – Creation

Course: Entrepreneurship I

 

What Students Do:

  • Create a business model with guidance from industry experts

  • Test business ideas in real-world contexts

  • Adapt and problem-solve through iteration

  • Develop financial models

  • Build customer relationships

  • Market and sell products/services

Certifications Available:

  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals

This year focuses on creativity, innovation, and early leadership skills.

 

11th Grade – Leadership

Course: Honors Entrepreneurship II (CBA Only Class)

 

What Students Learn:


Students build on the business they created in Entrepreneurship I and focus on turning it into a sustainable, successful venture.


Key areas include:

  • Customer growth & retention

  • Product and service refinement

  • Operational improvement

  • Data-driven decision making

  • Business sustainability

Certification Available:

  • Entrepreneurship & Small Business

This year develops advanced leadership, strategy, and financial thinking.

 

12th Grade – Launch

Courses: Practicum in Entrepreneurship
(Some may also take Business Practicum or Practicum in Business, depending on schedule)

 

What Students Experience:

  • Job shadowing & internships

  • Mentor partnerships with local businesses

  • Practicum placements with community partners

  • Capstone or venture launch project

  • Professional portfolio creation

Certifications Often Earned:

  • Intuit QuickBooks Certified User

  • Microsoft Office Specialist certifications

  • Stukent Social Media Marketing

This year gives Dragons real-world business experience and prepares them for college, career, and community leadership.

 

Graduation Requirement

CBA students must complete at least two industry-based certifications and finish the Practicum in Entrepreneurship to earn their Academy Completion & CBA Honor Cord.
